One of the things I think Corps fail to do now is to have that signature piece which everyone associates with that corp and then to incorporate that piece into their current show. This doesn't mean playing the same piece of music every year but it does mean to use it in warm ups, fanfares and such. Even my High School did this as we continued to play just the opening of a piece from early years as a "fanfare". The crowds love this and it builds member unity between the years of performers. Currently trying to convivence my son's HS Band Director to find that piece and use it year after year, "In the Stone" would be a great one.

Omg it's Scottie the hottie with the swimmers body at 0:22 and 0:23 with his little hat thing and a go pro. Thanks Scott for all the hard work and dedication u gave to the CVMB and being an amazing drum major even tho I only got to I guess march with u one year even tho neither of us ware marching. Ur such an amazing and cool person and so outgoing it was also really fun to be in indoor with u even tho it was a standstill I still have great memories of all the times that front ensemble had together. It's so cool that u come back on occasion like I think the last Saturday rehearsal/day we had last season u came and started running around the field trying to help the band get better. U are so inspiring and I'm so glad I got to meet u and be led by ur leadership in that outdoor and indoor season. I hope u have the best of luck in ur future life and everything. Hope u have possibly sometime to come back this season

Nice post , I've been going to this event since the 70's Drum Corp Camping and lots of food and drink. Every early Aug. Music feast, Car show and great Drum Corp weekend One year before we started to stay at a Campground we sat in the park till 4 in the morning In the full moonlight. It was then we decided to just stay take it all in and not rush home back to Jersey !!!!!!

If DCI hired an architect to design the perfect venue for marching music, they would design J. Birney Crum Stadium. Steep, lots of seats between the 35's, curved in at the ends. Built into the side of a hill so the sound is absorbed by the crowd. There is no echo, since the only thing for sound to bounce off of is South Mountain a few miles away.

I've been a fan of this corps for the past six years or so. I obviously don't see all that the judges see but I think they deserve higher marks than they get. Keep at it Surf. I love you a lot.

...but the town itself, sucks. Lived there 5 years. This event was one of the very few things to look forward to during a year - of ANY kind - in that area. I hope the stadium has gotten a huge overhaul in the 2000s.
